Americano

An Americano is a coffee beverage made by diluting espresso with water. Most baristas will pull a shot of espresso, then add it on top of a cup of hot water. The Americano was created in Europe during World War II for US soldiers who felt traditional espresso was too intense. By diluting espresso, baristas created something of a similar concentration to American drip coffee.
